#Tomoe river paper has not ceased to impress me. It takes watercolor pencil just fine! #hobonichi #planner #paper
I love watching how creative people are in their hobonichi planner and the entire ‘franchise’ is genius. But the dated planner is not for me (it did take me a while and some considerable effort to quell the ‘need that so bad’ urge in me).
However the paper…. oh sigh the paper, thin like bible paper but it actually holds calligraphy on both sides of the page, and watercolor, apparently you can use watercolor on it. (just between my fellow bookbinders, restorers, artist and paper connoisseurs and me; I think it’s actually the coating that has charmed the world, but who cares, sometimes the result is what counts)
So yes I did order two packs of blank tomoe river (tomoegawa) paper to see if I can bind my own glorious 400 page notebook. We have so many wonderful paper factories here in Europe but for fountain pen/calligraphy I always seem to end up with Japanese papers.
